PBS data API – updates

Page last updated: 02 Jul 2024

A new release of the PBS data API is now available.

This new release is backwards compatible. Existing implementations will not be affected, API users will have the option to take advantage of the new data. The latest version number of the API has not been changed.

In terms of updates, this is what you can look forward to:

  • Bug fixes for several known data issues
  • Summary of changes improvements
  • Documentation updates
  • Back-end improvements to quality and performance

Specific additional data has been added to the API, in response to requests and feedback from API users:

  • Premium exempt indicators
  • Group information for some missing groups
  • Supply Only / Advanced Notice dates
  • Default Dispensing Rule for Programs
  • First Listed Date

The API documentation is up to date with the changes. Further information is available in the Release Notes.

AMT V4

The Department has also been planning for the implementation of AMT V4 references in PBS data. The Department currently anticipates there will be a period of several months, between the release of AMT V4, and the incorporation of AMT V4 references in PBS data. During that period, existing AMT V3 references will continue to be available, but no new AMT references (of any version) will be added.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL existing forms of PBS Schedule data currently distributed to vendors will cease after October 2024. The new PBS embargo API will be the only source of embargo data available. Subscribe to the PBS Developer email list to receive notifications of PBS Developer News.
