PBS Data Distribution Project

The Department of Health and Aged Care is modernising the consumption and data distribution model for the monthly PBS Schedule data, in order to:

  • Make the data easier to understand and use in software;
  • Improve data latency and data provision through best practice architecture; and
  • Improve accessibility to PBS Schedule data for the public and external stakeholders (e.g. software vendors).

API

The Department continues to work on the PBS Data Distribution project. The team has created a fully operational datamart and API, which are currently undergoing testing. The team is also working on additional features for the datamart, including:

  • Optimising the time taken for new data to be made available through the API with each month’s publication
  • Improved data publishing business processes
  • Improved data quality assurance
  • Improved system environment and support processes

A version of the API will be made available for public beta testing when the above activities are complete and of appropriate quality.
